An interactive and modern museum, located Vilnius railway station in the passenger hall, opens its doors again on Saturday and welcomes visitors five days a week - from Tuesday to Saturday.

The main motif of the renewed museum exposition is "Colorful journey!", and its area reaches as much as 700 square meters. meters. Different spaces await visitors in the museum, divided into the station and platforms. In these spaces, with the help of interactive tools, they will be able to discover the pearls of railway history, open the backstage of the railway depot and even try the profession of a driver.

"Every day, while taking care of environmentally friendly trips for residents, we also see the sense of introducing them to the history and everyday life of railways. Smooth train traffic is ensured by many processes and technologies that have changed and improved over the years. We invite you to familiarize yourself with the changes that have taken place and are still taking place at the Railway Museum - I am sure that everyone will discover and love railways here, one of the cleanest modes of transport", says Egidijus Lazauskas, CEO of Lietuvos Geležinkeliai.

Vitalija Lapėnienė, the head of the museum, seconded him: "The railway museum is open to everyone - both the smallest visitors and railway enthusiasts will find interesting and entertaining things here. The museum team has prepared as many as four programs for visitors of different ages. The oldest exhibits of the museum, which are more than 100 years old, are integrated into the modern spaces of the museum - they can be known with the help of modern media. They also allow visitors to travel back in time, consider and dream about what train travel will look like in the future.”

The Railway Museum dates its history from 1966. For 11 years, it has been located in the Vilnius railway, built in the XNUMXth century of the station in the passenger cabin. 

Modernization of the museum exposition took place for about 2,5 years. During this period, the exposition and interior were renovated, exhibition furniture and interactive tools were installed, and the necessary equipment was installed.

The museum is open five days a week, Tuesday through Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 18 p.m. A visit to the museum costs 6 euros, payment for tickets can only be made by bank card. For pupils, students, seniors, etc. discounts apply. Visiting the museum's outdoor exposition is free for everyone.

In total, about 800 thousand was invested in the repair and modernization of the museum. euros. About 565 thousand Euros were the funds of the European Union. The rest was allocated by “Lithuanian railways".
