On the day of free visits to museums, this Sunday, as many as four exhibitions and permanent expositions will be opened to visitors in the Museum of the Palace of the Lords, which include the life history and heritage of the rulers of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.

Sunday is the last day of the exhibition of cobblestones full of the Gothic era. Stove hoods from this era are perhaps the most ornate surviving interior detail of the Vilnius residence of the grand dukes. Healthy or better condition ovens have not survived to our days, not only in Lithuania, but also in other countries. As elsewhere, in Vilnius Castle they were demolished during the reconstruction or rebuilding of the residence, adapting to new fashions or the needs of the estate. During the excavations of the Lower Castle, the more than 550-year-old cauldrons found by archaeologists depicted the heraldry of the ruler and the state, the attributes of the church hierarchs and the coats of arms of noble families, and scenes from biblical and mythological stories and their characters are also reflected in the cauldrons. At the end of the exhibition, only a few of the cocoons will be on permanent display, while others will return to storage and will not be on such wide display any time soon. Until April 28 The current exhibition is the first in Lithuania and the largest exhibition dedicated only to Gothic era cockles.

This Sunday is the last chance to see an exclusive exhibition of one masterpiece for free - the painting "The Mother of God with the Child" by the Renaissance genius Giovanni Bellini (c. 1430-1516). This is the work of one of the world's most famous artists and one of the most valuable and expensive works of art ever to come to Lithuania. Its history is also intriguing - the work of art belonged to both the most famous European collectors and the dictators of the Far East. The exhibition will run until May 19, after which the painting will return to Krakow's Wawel Royal Castle.

At the moment, two more exhibitions can be seen in the Museum of the Palace of the Lords: one of them - "Symbols of Freedom of the Baltic States 1918-1940". Lithuania, Latvija, Estonia" - state awards of the interwar period are presented: orders, medals, Chains of orders, and this Thursday in the interactive exhibition "Insurgents of 1863-1864" opened in the Great Courtyard of the Palace of the Lords attractively reveals the XNUMXth century. the stories of the participants of the uprising, the origins, beginning and course of the uprising are told in Poland, in Lithuania, Belarus and part of Ukraine.

The Ministry of Culture Residents of Lithuania are given the opportunity to visit museums for free once a month. Many visitors are already used to using this option. Last year alone, there were over 175 thousand such visits.
