On April 25, at 18 p.m., Vilnius city gallery "Meno niša" invites everyone to the opening celebration of the anniversary, 10th international Vilnius enamel art biennial "Vilnius 2024". More than 30 guest authors from Japan, Estonia, Venezuela, France, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania and Sakartvel will present their works at the exhibition.

Vilnius Biennale of Enamel Art – held every two years and the only one dedicated to professional enamel art event In Baltic states. The curators of the Biennale are its founder, jeweler Marytė Dominaitė, who has accumulated a great deal of experience in the field of enamel art, and dr. Jurgita Ludavičienė - curator, art critic, has been writing about contemporary jewelry for more than 20 years.

"Beginning in 2005, the biennale turned Vilnius into a bright center of enamel art, recognizable and known among the capitals of Eastern and Western Europe, enamel art professionals and fans. We are happy that this year, the tenth international biennale of enamel art is celebrating the name of Vilnius and the Goldsmith's workshop of the city of Vilnius, which was founded 529 years ago", said the founder of the biennale and one of the curators, artist M. Dominaitė.

The main theme of the jubilee biennale of enamel art is "Masterpiece". Professional artists working in the enamel technique, who have participated in previous biennales and whose works have been nominated by international evaluation commissions for prizes or thanks, are invited to the exhibition. 38 authors from Japan, Estonia, Venezuela, France, Latvia, Israel, Lithuania and Sakartvel will participate in the exhibition, who will present more than 60 works made with various enameling techniques.

According to one of the curators of the biennial, art critic dr. According to J. Ludavičienė, enamel art is a unique genre in which the performance tradition sounds modern, innovative or conceptual. This was the requirement for the selection of works for previous biennales of enamel art, and it is even more relevant for the jubilee exhibition.

"At the X International Enamel Biennale, viewers will be able to see various ways of using enamel: delicate partition enamel, bold industrial enamel, compare the creative manner of artists from different countries and see what kind of "masterpieces" they have created. Here, enamel is combined with amber, precious stones, silver or gold leaf. It moves onto copper dishes and book covers, unexpectedly becomes a painting or three-dimensional sculpture, dazzles with colors and entices with the subtlety of technique," said J. Ludavičienė.

Visitors to the exhibition will also see an enamel installation created on the occasion of Vilnius' 700th birthday - "Prince Gediminas's Cloak". Three hundred citizens of Vilnius and guests of the capital from six to eighty-six years of age, regardless of age and education, participated in the project, who created a collective work from 700 original enamel-coated copper plates with interpretations of motifs and symbols of the city of Vilnius, which were combined into one large "Prince Gediminas Cloak". , dedicated to the birthday of the city of Vilnius. The work was realized in cooperation with Tomas Zanas library, Justinas Vienožinskis art school, "Skaistios" tun of Vilnius region scouts, Vincas Grybos memorial museum, with Vilnius city municipalities social care home "Vilniaus Lakštingala namai" and others.
