Spring. Finally, the harsh winter is over, the holidays that everyone is waiting for are coming, most of them are already planning their future vacations, well Vilnius University students, alumni and staff are gearing up for the 43rd annual Mathematicians and Informatics Days (MIDI) week of events.
Most of the visitors of the annual MIDI Week events have probably already noticed that every year the organizers of this week come up with a different theme for the event. Last year event was full of magic and illusions, well, this year, MIDI invites everyone who is interested to invite their friends, family members or even neighbors together with the highlight of the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics - the cat Micius - on April 20-27 to unravel the great mystery to which clues will be found throughout the cycle of events.
April 20-21 there will be the already heard and loved LAN Party, which will invite PC gamers to assemble their teams and compete for prizes in various games such as League Of Legends, Valorant, Counter-Strike 2, or less competent ones such as Tetris or Teamfight Tactics, in computer game tournaments. Well, a LAN Party without Minecraft would be like a cat without a mustache, so it's important to mention that there will also be a Minecraft Decathlon tournament. The participants of the tournaments will have the opportunity to show their abilities and prove that they are worthy of the title of champion and the prizes provided by the abundant MIDI prize pool.
Of course, the organizers did not forget the lovers of classic games - the plan has not changed this year - the annual Chess tournament will take place on April 20 Naugarduk st. 24 in the faculty. Well, if you like to play cards and experience excitement that excites the mind and body - the Sports Poker tournament awaits the participants with open arms.
So that the participants do not become dependent on virtual communication and do not forget live communication, they will be invited to return to reality and chat with professionals from IT and mathematics companies on April 22 the upcoming MIDI Company Fair, where everyone will have the opportunity to discover their dream career or get useful knowledge and advice for a future job interview.
The annual ASSECO Sports Days, which have already become a tradition, will invite you to move and on April 23-24 try your hand at basketball and football. At White bridge the organizers of the sports field will look forward to volleyball lovers or even those who are not interested in sports - non-traditional matches will involve even students who are used to a passive lifestyle to have a good time while moving.
You will be able to rest your joints after physical activity and move your brain cells on April 25, in the shopping centre "Oz" in the entertainment center "Action! by Apollo" in the upcoming Mind Battle.
On the 26rd of April the ongoing Orienteering competition will not only give you the opportunity to admire the evening scenery of the Old Town of Vilnius, but also to learn more about the capital and its hidden secrets. Everyone is invited to participate, especially non-Vilnius residents - this is a great opportunity to get acquainted with the unseen and unfamiliar layout of the metropolis.

Either way, you're all welcome on April 27 to the musical theater "Legendos klubas" together with the organizers of MIDI 2024 and guests of the city to cheerfully celebrate cat's days. The evening dance rhythm will be led by the groups Jautì and Šiaurė, and the comedian Evaldas Jasaitis will help the participants to not be sad and laugh while holding their bellies. It will be an unforgettable evening that we do not recommend to miss.
