During the centenary Song Festival starting in June, Vilnius is preparing for an influx of both participants and city guests. In addition, consideration is being given to the possibility of broadcasting the celebration on special screens in the city squares of the country, as well as charging a symbolic price to the audience for the general rehearsal of the Ensembles' evening in Kalnai Park.
"We are thinking of holding a dress rehearsal in Kalnai Park with tickets, we will announce it at the beginning of May. There was also a new initiative to set up screens in the city center and invite people to come and watch the Song Festival in the evening, especially for those who do not have the opportunity to come to Vilnius", said S. Liausa at the press conference on Monday.
"Preparatory work is going on really actively. We are happy to cooperate with both Vilnius and Kaunas municipalities, we work with the Ministries of Internal Affairs and Health Protection, various services. (...) We also have sufficient finances to organize the kind of celebration we have planned", the event manager emphasized.
He also reminded that 10 of the 14 events of the festival are free.
According to the organizers of the event, 5 million is allocated for the preparation of the celebration. EUR state funds, the city of Vilnius will provide more than half a million EUR. In addition, as the organizers of the festival point out, each municipality will take care of the participants' arrival in Vilnius from the financial side.
As the mayor of Vilnius points out Valdas Benkunskas, participants of the festival who came from other cities will be accommodated in the capital's educational institutions, they will also be provided with free public transport during the week of the Song Festival. In addition, the mayor reminds, 650 has been earmarked for the organization of the event. of capital budget funds.
"Vilnius city municipalities contribution to the celebration is 650 thousand. euros. We also talked with the director about the screens, so that amount can grow," he noted V. Benkunskas.
"We contribute to the accommodation of the participants - almost 19 thousand. the participants will be accommodated in municipal educational institutions, we have long-term experience here, only the challenge will be greater due to the scale of the celebration", V. Benkunskas told journalists.
ELTA reminds that from June 29 to July 6 this year, the centenary Song Festival "Kad giria žaliuautų" will be held in Lithuania. Her first event will happen Beautiful, in the Valley of Songs, and the weekly concert cycle will be closed by Days of Songs concert Vilnius In Vingo Park.
