JAV software and services company Palantir Technologies Inc. plans to expand in Lithuania - it will establish a regional center of big data competence in Vilnius.

The company with a strategic partnership with the Ministry of National Defense will cooperate in the development of new digital solutions - Palantir Technologies Inc. and the MoD have signed a memorandum providing for this, the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency reported.Invest in Lithuania".

President Gitanas Nauseda said in a statement that the development of new, high-tech oriented foreign investments and partnership relations in order to jointly create new technological products important for the security of the region are beneficial for both sides. 

Minister of National Defense Arvydas Anušauskas said that by developing Lithuania's experience in the field of data-based defense capabilities and becoming a center of competence in the Baltic states and NATO in the member countries, the defense potential will be strengthened and the development of the Lithuanian defense industry and the ecosystem related to it will be supported.

According to Alex C. Carp, one of the founders and chief executive officer of Palantir Technologies Inc. and chairman of the Palantir Defense Policy and International Affairs Foundation, the center will strengthen not only the state and its Baltic partners, but also democratic values. 

Palantir Technologies will employ a highly qualified software engineer in Lithuania. The Ministry will provide insights into the possible application of the products in the fields of defense and their further development.

Palantir Technologies combines expertise in distributed systems infrastructure, big data processing, user experience design and data science. The company's solutions were used in the fight against COVID-19, providing military support to Ukraine and resettling Ukrainian refugees to Lithuania.
