On Thursday, the Visorii Information Technology Park (VITP) opened a 6700 sq. m. m photonics, laser processing and space technology center. The total value of the new center construction project is 8,5 million. EUR, of which 6,25 million EUR million is private investments, according to a news release.

"Lithuania can already be proud of its achievements in the fields of laser and space technologies, but we have enormous potential for growth and we aim to become a strong international player. This center will help to achieve this goal, which will allow gathering the most promising talents in these fields under one roof and grow world-class businesses that create added value.

In the past few months alone, at least two startups have been born here in the fields of defense and security technology and photonics applications in space research. In addition, the business incubation center of the European Space Agency will be located here this year, which will help establish at least 25 startups in the field of space within five years," says the Minister of Economy and Innovation. Dawn Armonaitė.

90 percent the technologies and services developed by the companies operating here are exported, the main export markets are JAV, Germany, France, Taiwan, Middle Eastern countries. Most companies in the center also provide components and services to each other, thus extending the supply chain within the country.

"More than 90 percent Lithuania's laser industry and research is concentrated in Vilnius, and this is a sector whose growth we are very interested in," said the mayor of Vilnius Remigius Šimašius. - Therefore, I congratulate the development of Visorių information technology park, oh Vilnius city municipality will provide additional grants of 25 euros to the startups of the European Space Agency's incubator located here."

The new center houses the region's leading space technology company Kongsberg NanoAvionics, laser micromachining companies Optogama, Optonas, laser system developers Akoneer and Direct Machining Control, defense and security technology companies Ados-Tech and Ados pro", material processing company "Protogama". The new center will also house a digital innovation center.

Collectively, the center's companies have grown at least 5 times over the past 7 years, and some of the center's businesses plan to grow their talent teams by at least 50 percent and double their sales in the next couple of years.
