For many people, home is not only a place of rest, but also a place for the realization of hobbies. Some are engaged in creative activities, others in physical activities. However, when space is small and the list of activities is long, you have to get creative. Interior designers advise how to accommodate not only hobbies, but also a place for rest or guests in one room.

Beautiful living artist Danguolė, the house is spinning like a whirlwind - in addition to daily preparation work, this is where she became, spins from wool, writes a book, composes poetry, and sometimes even remembers the craft of a hairdresser. Of course, she rests and receives guests in the same room, because the other area of the house goes to her son and brother. It is interesting that all these activities fit into a room of only 20 square meters, which, according to the hostess, is like a small apartment where life is boiling 24 hours a day. per day.

With so many different activities in one room, it lacks comfort and order. Creative hobbies require special lighting and a place to store tools, and you also need space to store everyday items. The women's room was renovated by a team of interior designers. They wanted to make life in a small room cozier, more comfortable and more beautiful, and each thing would find its place.

Smart space planning and organization of things is a must

According to specialists, when we have a small space, it is important to use every centimeter of it purposefully. For example, it is often forgotten to use the height of the walls, for example, the empty space above the door. "Wall shelves can be installed here, which will be ideal for climbing plants or beautiful boxes for storing things," advise IKEA interior designers Toma Laucienė and Kristina Sutkienė.

Another, not uncommon, example, the space of which is often forgotten, is the space left between cabinets and cabinets. "You can hide an ironing board or hang additional folding chairs in them, which will be convenient to pull out when the guests come," the specialists add. But these tricks are not all.

The interior designers chose two high modular wardrobes with integrated lighting to store both clothes and shoes, as well as the artist's creative tools. Although they look the same from the outside, they have been modeled differently on the inside to suit a specific purpose. In one closet, a woman will be able to store tools for hobbies, so it has shelves and drawers. Clothes will go next. The cabinets are modeled high, so that less frequently used items can be neatly stored in the upper cabinets.

However, purposeful organization of things is also important inside the closets. Interior designers recommend using boxes to store small items on shelves and drawers. They help to store things in a more capacious and orderly manner, making it easier to find and remove them without messing them up.

In the hobby area there is a universal workplace

The list of favorite activities of a woman living in a room is really long, so a comfortable workplace is necessary to implement them. "A very artistic person lives here, so we wanted to make the space brighter, neater, more comfortable. The fact that the housewife said she dreamed of a multi-functional table-book helped to resist. A small but beautiful table is very practical - it can be unfolded, so it will also serve to receive guests. Next to the workplace, there is an ergonomic, height-adjustable work chair, suitable lighting, and a perforated board on the wall, where it is convenient to store small things needed for work: wool, scissors. In this way, we not only saved space, but also put all the tools within reach", say T. Laucienė and K. Sutkienė.

However, relatives visit the housewife not only to visit, but also to get a haircut, because she is a former hairdresser. In this case, a mirror with lighting is also necessary in the room. "We chose one that will be useful not only for haircuts, but is also extremely aesthetic. A large round mirror gives the space lightness and softens the straight, strict lines, and also visually enlarges the room. And to make it convenient to store the tools needed for the hairdresser's craft, we adapted a trolley with wheels nearby - if necessary, it can be pushed to where Heaven needs it the most," says the interior designer.

For relaxation - a comfortable bed and cozy lighting

Due to the limited space, until now the woman slept on the couch. However, a good rest is necessary, so the interior specialists changed the old sofa into a couch with mattresses for a comfortable sleep. At night, the daybed can be unfolded and turned into a double bed, and during the day it can be used as a sofa.

Another important part is lighting. "Sometimes we don't even think about how differently arranged lighting can affect not only daily activities, but also comfort," says the interior designer. In addition to the main ceiling lighting, they adapted solutions for reading, working, and cutting hair. Traditional style curtains, natural materials and colors and plants also decorated the room and gave it cosiness.
