"The unvarnished reality. Vaidotas fell seriously ill right before the filming of the Eurovision selections. The show was filmed 3 weeks ago. Treatment of Lyme disease with antibiotics weakened the immune system, contributed to other ailments and had to lie down in bed," the musicians addressed their followers.
There were doubts whether it was worth participating in the competition until the last days.
"Three days before the shoot, there was still real thought about not participating at all," The Roop wrote.
After consulting, the group made a risky decision.
"We discussed and decided to accept this challenge, not to give up easily, to have the opportunity to get on stage and travel further. Although with incomplete strength", the musicians said.
In a post for fans, The Roop revealed that Vaidot showed up at the Eurovision audition completely weak and exhausted.
"On the day of the filming, Vaidotas arrived having lost 5 kilograms, but full of hope. He tried to protect his strength. We are glad that we managed to get on stage! We have already recovered our strength and are preparing for the final performance (we really want to enter). There will be new beautiful things!” - The Roop did not lose hope.
