Performer and music creator Agnė Buškevičiūtė presents to the listeners her latest Eurovision single "Puppeteer" (lit. "Lēlininkas") and the song's visual. As the artist herself says, the song tells a story about love that creates dependence on another person and you allow yourself to be controlled by him. According to the artist, the relationship between the puppeteer and the doll is a beautiful way to look at such a relationship when we fall in love with the wrong person.

The origin of the song and the creative process

"This year, I'm not going to the Eurovision selection with a song I wrote. During one of the songwriting sessions in Norway, one of the songwriters suggested this song to me. After only hearing the original version of the song, I immediately felt it very strongly, but at the same time I was surprised that such a song was offered to me. The piece was written for a different performance than what I was singing at the time, so I decided to take on this challenge with the utmost dedication. It was also necessary to get permission from the other songwriters, so I had to prepare very well for the recordings in order to get their final decision."

"Preparation for the recordings was intense, with its own challenges, quests, etc. I had to climb over some of my fears. I often joke that I set a personal recording record with this song - I even stood at the microphone for 10 hours! I don't know how I was able to withstand such a recording session, but when you really want to - you can do anything!" - says the artist about the creative process.

Participation in "Eurovision" for the second time

"I will be in Eurovision for the second time. At the beginning, I was not sure if I would try to participate this year. I said it all depends on the song and then the song suddenly came into my life. I believe she chose me and showed me a very clear direction. I participated for the first time last year, and I'll be honest - I couldn't avoid rookie mistakes. I wasn't very happy with my performance because I couldn't do everything the way I wanted. Nevertheless, the Eurovision stage was an amazing experience and a very good school. I've learned a lot, I've done my homework, and I'm coming into this year with a completely different mindset. All preparations for the show are very intense. We are working hard, looking for ways to better convey the story of the song on stage. I'm so wrapped up in it that sometimes I don't have energy for anything else. I appreciate this period of life and try to gain as much experience as possible from it. I am grateful for the opportunity to be on the Eurovision stage again," says the singer.

Song message and visual

"The song tells a story about love that creates dependence on another person and you allow yourself to be controlled by them. How do you understand that something is wrong with such a relationship, but still want to continue in it. You pretend that you don't see, you don't hear the warnings and you are in that relationship because you can't control your heart, you are ready to do anything for that person. The puppeteer in this context is like a metaphor or allegory for this kind of manipulative and addictive love. I think that the relationship between a puppeteer and a doll is a beautiful way to look at such a relationship when we fall in love with the wrong person," says the singer.

"I hope the audience will enjoy this piece and hear it and get involved in its story." It is for this reason that I chose not a music video for this song, but lyric video with minimal animation to focus more on the story itself and the lyrics. I would like to thank the graphic designer Iveta Sendžikaitei for this visual. She helped to fulfill all creative wishes in abundance and conveyed the story perfectly!" - the artist is happy.
