Drone enthusiasts, professionals, beginners and everyone interested in the possibilities and innovations of this technology are welcome at the Flight Training Base of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU), located at the Kyviškių airfield.
The festival is intended for the whole family, where there will be activities for everyone: professionals will develop their skills, beginners will try their flying experience, the curious will look at drones at the exhibition, the little visitors of the festival will be able to try the glider workshop.
"As the number of drones used for professional purposes increases, we see increasingly stringent requirements for the skills of drone operators. Therefore, we have decided that the key focus of this year's Drone Festival should be the skills of the managers. We have prepared a theoretical and practical program for the "green", the advanced will be able to test their strength and improve their skills in competitions of various difficulty, while the professionals will talk about the skills needed for border protection, forensics, city surveillance and scanning", says one of the organizers, the dean of the Antanas Gustaichis Institute of Aviation at VGTU Dr. Justus Nugaras.
The Drone Festival will include demonstration drone shows, drone competitions, lectures and discussions. A flight simulator is also presented, the participants can enjoy tours of the airfield, and a fair of manufacturers and sellers. For drone operators, competitions specially prepared for the event are organized, which will help to evaluate the available drone control skills. The participants will have a drone competition where they will have to find hidden markers on the AN-2 plane, search for markers in a large area, and there will also be a drone control competition that will test their visual flight control skills.
Special training "DJI New Pilot Experience" organized by VGTU's partners Dronai.lt will be held at the festival, intended for beginner drone pilots who are just thinking of buying a drone. After an informative theoretical session, participants will gain hands-on flight experience flying outdoors with experienced instructors who will introduce them to the necessary safety procedures before each flight.
