On Thursday afternoon, heavy rains and hail were recorded in some regions of Lithuania, mainly in the north, the Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service reported.
"According to the latest data, short and intense rains with thunderstorms are recorded mainly in Šiauliai, Panevėžys and Utena counties, in some places hail up to 0,5–2 cm in diameter fell (photos posted by residents on social media show that in some places even icicles reaching 3 cm fell), "the service announced on the social network "Facebook".
According to her, the storm will move in a southeasterly direction in the coming hours.
As the service has already announced, many pockets of light rain will move across Lithuania on Thursday. In some places, heavy rain, hail, and thunderstorms are possible.
In many places, wind gusts can reach up to 15–20 m/s, and in places up to 23 m/s.
