Rains caused chaos in the Polish capital on Tuesday, with entire streets submerged under water, news website TVPWorld reported.
After the rains caused flooding in Warsaw, the mayor of the city, Rafal Trzaskowski, urged the public to use public transport instead of their own cars.
Residents woke up on Tuesday morning to find that a large area of the city was under water, flooded garages, basements, and impassable main roads.
The northern part of the city was the most affected, where 120 liters of water fell per square meter per day.
Dramatic videos posted online show half-submerged and abandoned cars on one of Warsaw's main thoroughfares, as well as people wading through flooded streets.
R. Trzaskowski wrote on the "X" website: "Su police we combine the ground public transport traffic to bypass areas inaccessible due to flooding.
"Avoid flooded areas and choose public transport today. At night, we held a joint meeting with fire, police and city representatives. We are in constant contact and are working to remove the effects of the downpour as soon as possible," he wrote.
Police and firefighters worked through the night as they received more than 800 calls from residents who needed help.
The violent storms that flooded the capital raged across the country, with firefighters responding to more than 2 incidents on Monday and Tuesday.
