LTG group passenger transport company "LTG Link" invites you to explore the nature of Lithuania by traveling on the Forest Train. Starting today, train passengers traveling between Vilnius and Kaunas, and on Fridays - from the capital to Trakai and back, can expect a unique experience - a train journey decorated with motifs of forest vegetation and images of animals from this region of Lithuania with educational content.
"It makes sense that this LTG Link initiative is launching on World Earth Day. It is not just a decorated train - it is an invitation to a journey of discovery, encouraging interest in and knowledge of Lithuanian nature. At the same time, it is also a reflection of our values. We are one of the most sustainable companies in Lithuania and we share the message that nature is an integral part of train travel. I believe that the Forest Train will attract those who have rarely chosen this way of traveling until now," says Kristina Meidė, head of LTG Link, inviting schools to travel on trips or excursions by the Forest Train, because the Forest Train is a great space for non-traditional lessons on nature, biology or world knowledge.
The idea of the forest train was implemented by LTG Link together with the famous nature photographer, writer and ornithologist Marius Čepulis. Some of the animal photos used to decorate the train are from M. Čepulis' archives, and he also selected the most interesting stories that train passengers will be able to learn about during the journey.
"When people travel by train, bus, or car, they sometimes have no idea what kind of land they are traveling through, what animals roam there, what birds breed, what rare and not uncommon plants bloom. So this idea seemed very meaningful to me. The more people know about the nature of our region, the more they will respect it and, hopefully, protect it. And this road between Vilnius and Kaunas is truly extraordinary; here you can find both common deer, elk, lynx, and wolves, as well as forest dormice that only live in these areas, small spotted eagles hunt here, rare butterflies fly, and rare toads croak. And this is only a small part of what the forests and rivers of these areas hide," says the photographer.
The windows on the train are decorated with authentic animal images, and the green forest atmosphere is created by the decor on the floors, walls and ceilings. Starting in mid-April, by scanning special QR codes, you will be able to learn more about the animals and plants of this region, and hear the sounds of the forest. In the first class of the train, the decor is a bit more restrained - the ceilings and tables are transformed into forest fragments.
We invite everyone who wants to get to know the nature of Lithuania and experience a unique journey to purchase tickets for the Forest Train and join this educational journey. You can purchase tickets for the Forest Train in the "LTG Link" ticket sales system - the times when this train runs are marked with a special sign "Forest Train".
The decor of the forest train was taken care of by "Balti lapai", with the help of professional decorators "MAMin" and "Ink Idea".
This train will run all year round, and the updated schedule for each month of this train will be published a month in advance - please note that it may change from May.
