Today, December 11, the first train of the joint international route left Vilnius for Warsaw and Krakow. For the convenience of passengers, flights organized together with the Polish carrier "PKP Intercity" will run daily from now on.
Trains between Lithuania and Poland will run on the Vilnius-Kaunas-Warsaw-Krakow route. "LTG Link" the train from Vilnius will go via Kaunas to Mockava, where passengers will be invited to transfer to the train of the Polish company and continue their journey to the selected Polish city.
"With new international flights, we will ensure both green transport and cultural and social connection. For those traveling for work, young people who want to get to know the surrounding countries or those who want to have fun - Polish cities are easily and sustainably accessible from today on a daily basis. Passengers' interest in this route has already exceeded expectations - in just two weeks of ticket sales, about 1000 tickets for this route were sold through LTG Link channels for the month of December," says Linas Baužys, head of LTG Link.
Consistent work with partners in Poland led to the addition of an additional carriage to the train running through Poland, which includes both group-friendly compartments and seats for people with reduced mobility, making travel to Poland accessible to all. At the same time, this will allow customers to be offered more additional tickets on a daily basis.
According to the company, most of the customers choose to go to Warsaw, another half to Kraków, and the most popular are 3-4 day round trips. Although most of the tickets sold on the LTG Link channels for weekend and holiday trips have already been purchased before the first train, adding an additional wagon will allow more people to travel to Poland.
Those traveling on an international route are reminded to carry personal identification documents. There will be a transfer between LTG Link and PKP Intercity trains in Mockava. The trains of both companies have reserved seats for international route passengers, and customers purchasing tickets for this route are offered extremely attractive ticket prices. For those traveling to Warsaw, the price of a standard ticket will be just 25 EUR, and for those going to Krakow - 30 EUR.
There are a total of 130 seats in trains running on the Vilnius-Moscow route. This means that the remaining seats can also be purchased by persons traveling within the countries - for example, with these flights it is possible to comfortably travel between Vilnius and Marijampolė every day.
LTG Link invites customers who did not have time to choose tickets for the extremely popular flights via LTG Link channels, not to despair. They can be purchased in several other ways - by selecting an international route on the partner PKP Intercity website www.intercity.pl or by purchasing two separate tickets - one for the section of the route to Mockava in Lithuania (via LTG Link channels), the other via the Polish carrier's website www. .intercity.pl for the section from Mockava to the selected one of the station in Poland.
Both countries' trains will have toilets and electrical outlets in each train carriage. In the territory of Lithuania, it will be possible to use free Wi-Fi internet connection, customers will be offered to buy snacks and drinks.
