An explosion occurred at the plastic recycling company Plasta's factory in Vilnius on Saturday. fire, but after a few hours it was already localized.
As the Fire and Rescue Department told BNS, seven tanker trucks, two forklifts, and a staff vehicle are working at the scene.
The fire was reported at around 16 p.m. and localized shortly after 18 p.m.
Firefighters call containment the stopping of the spread of a fire, but it is not yet considered extinguishing it.
No people were injured in the fire, and the employees at the factory were evacuated.
Residents near the fire site received a phone alert about possible air pollution and were urged to stay indoors.
This is another major fire in recent weeks. At the end of April, a fire broke out at a waste sorting plant in the Vilnius region, this week at a cogeneration power plant in Kaunas and at a scrap metal recycling plant in Alytus.
Last December, Vilnius-based plastic recycling and manufacturing group Plasta was acquired by Cedo, a UK-based manufacturer of disposable household essentials operating in Europe and Asia, for an undisclosed sum.
Plasta is one of the largest polyethylene recyclers in Europe.
