Although the official start of conscripts is announced on Thursday, the list of conscripts will be compiled in the ministry next week. It is expected that it will be compiled by a computer program in the presence of independent, specially selected observers.
"Before the start of the regular conscription of young people, a list of conscripts is drawn up every year. Afterwards, all the procedures that ensure the staffing of the units of the Lithuanian army follow. Of course, those who did not make it to the list, but want to perform their duty voluntarily, are always welcome at our service units, where they can submit an application for service in the Lithuanian Armed Forces," Arūnas Balčiūnas, director of the Military Conscription and Recruitment Service (KPKT) of the Lithuanian Armed Forces, is quoted as saying in the report.
It is noted that the list of conscripts includes all young people who have fulfilled their constitutional obligation, including those who have previously submitted requests for voluntary service. True, according to the army, the latter will have the opportunity to choose the time and place of service and will be able to apply for higher cumulative benefits.
"Those studying in the country's higher education institutions will not be added to the list, but will be included once after graduation, therefore those who wish to fulfill their constitutional duty have the right to suspend their studies for the period of the NPPKT or to study and complete the training of junior officer commanders (JKVM) within three years or to perform voluntary non-permanent military service service in the National Defense Volunteer Forces", LK indicates.
"Young people who have not been included in the list of conscripts due to their studies and who have not performed military service during them can be called up for one more year after graduation until the age of 26," the report added.
It is expected that in 2025 the list of conscripts and instructions to the persons included in it will be published within a week after the list is drawn up. Conscripts are advised to regularly check the information provided to them, as conscription instructions are not sent by post, and non-compliance may result in administrative or criminal liability.
