A rocket landed near the Lithuanian Embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel, on Thursday night, according to Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys. According to him, no diplomatic staff were injured in the incident.
"A rocket fell near the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania. I cannot assess who was there, but our building was not damaged. The staff was not injured either, but we are assessing the entire situation," K. Budrys told Elta.
"The situation is such that the risk of incidents related to conflict or exchange of blows is increasing. Just as the threat to our personnel in Israel is also increasing. We are currently assessing what additional measures we need to take to ensure the safety of our diplomats. This is a priority for us," he emphasized.
According to the minister, in response to this situation, a meeting of the ministry's Emergency Situations Center was convened on Thursday. According to him, it is intended to decide on possible additional measures to ensure the safety of diplomats in Israel on the same day.
"Additional measures will be adopted today," said K. Budrys.
ELTA reminds that thousands of citizens from various countries are stranded in Israel after the latter launched military attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities last week. In recent days, Israel and Iran have increasingly fired missiles at each other, fueling fears that the conflict could drag on and engulf the entire Middle East.
In response to this situation, about 100 Lithuanians in Israel were evacuated from Aqaba Airport on Wednesday evening.
