The world's most modern honey bee in Lithuania

The world's most modern honey extraction device is starting to operate in Lithuania - it was purchased by brothers Ignas and Vilius Jackevičiai, founders of the "Brolių medus" brand. This is the first such device in the country, allowing you to extract as many as 5 honeycombs in 120 minutes - up to 10 tons of honey per season. With a significant increase in the number of bee colonies kept on the farm - up to 200 tons.

"We accidentally saw this device on YouTube, while we were interested in the latest technologies used by our friends abroad. We were surprised by the capabilities of the honey extractor, which ensures the honey extraction process from attacking the honeycombs to bottling the honey," says beekeeper I. Jackevičius.

The decision to purchase this device took months to develop – the most important thing for the brothers was to ensure that the technology met their quality standards. The huge honey extractor was brought to the village of Lukonys, Kupiškis district, by truck from Italy. The seller’s representatives participated in the installation, connection and commissioning of the device, thus ensuring a safe and smooth preparation of the honey extractor for operation.

"The first thing we tested was not the new honey extractor, but the electrical installation - it blew the fuses," laughs V. Jackevičius. "We quickly replaced them with more powerful ones and everything went smoothly from then on."

This powerful device is expected to fundamentally change the brothers' daily work. Previously, extracting honey took a whole day, now it takes just a few minutes. The powerful machine takes just 120 minutes to attack and extract honey from 5 honeycombs. Beekeepers do not hide that this will significantly improve their work efficiency, ensuring the highest quality standards in all production processes.

"More than 300 happy bee colonies live in the apiary we maintain. We do not plan to increase this number for now. The goal is to focus on developing new honey products and presenting them to the public, and once the new beekeeper is hired, there should be enough time for this," says I. Jackevičius.

"Brolių medus" has been around since 2011, but the brothers' hobby turned into a business only six years ago, when the production of honey products was supplemented by the breeding of queen bees. Having started with traditional beekeeping, the brothers are currently Twins produces about 30 different bee and honey products.

"We offer not only traditional Lithuanian honey, bee bread, pollen, throat sprays with pitch for children and adults, but also unique products: honey with freeze-dried berries, chocolate and milk candies with honey. The most popular at the moment are the gold-medal-awarded fruit juice and honey gummies "Broliai lokiai", - says V. Jackevičius happily.

The brothers are not only interested in honey, bee products and their quality, but also in the opportunity to help people overcome their fears, get to know bees better and perhaps even fall in love with them. The brothers, who are eager to share their experiences, invite the public to visit their well-maintained apiary, get to know bees up close, and experience the emotions that inspired them to start a beekeeping business and enjoy the results they have achieved today.

"Bees taught us patience, and now we share what we create with love," the brothers say.
