In 2018, 45 new stores were to open in the Paplaujos district of the city of Vilnius, on the site of the former "Audejo" shopping center. m2 shopping and leisure center of the area. Sports clubs were to be located here, restaurants, a cinema and a grocery store. For comparison, currently the largest shopping centers in Vilnius are: Vilnius "Acropolis" (110 thousand years2), "Oz" (62 thousand years2) and "Panorama" (65 thousand years2).
However, construction never started, and the old "Audeja" buildings remained standing. However, in November of this year, new project proposals were submitted to the capital city municipality, in which a huge complex of office and residential apartment buildings should be built instead of the "Audeja" buildings.
October 18 Vilnius city municipality approved this project. A building permit will be awaited.
The complex will consist of 8 bodies
As stated in the design proposals, the new complex will consist of 8 buildings of various purposes:
- A, C, D, E, F: hotel buildings intended for long-term rent (co-living concept);
- B: residential purpose - apartments;
- G, H: administrative purpose - offices.
Buildings B and D will have underground car storage and shared service facilities. It is also mentioned that the housings can be built in separate stages, by preparing separate technical projects and obtaining separate construction permitting documents. The division of the construction of the complex into phases will be decided later.
"The territory under consideration will be divided into two regulatory zones of different heights: 5 and 7 floors. A commercial function is planned in the busy and noisy part of the plot along Drujas street, and between it and the planned residential quarter in the former territory of the "Markučiai" factory, a residential function is planned - apartments and apartments for rent. Public spaces - courtyards - are formed inside the blocks of mixed functions and the commercial part," the project proposals say about the future complex.
