The transport infrastructure company Fegda Group has handed over 80 "dragon teeth" - concrete road barriers that impede the movement of military equipment - to the Lithuanian military. As stated Lithuanian army, these countermobility measures will be distributed among countermobility parks in Lithuania and will contribute to ensuring state security.
According to Lithuanian army Engineers, "dragon's teeth" are a counter-mobility obstacle designed to hinder the movement of military equipment. According to the military, due to their existing design, "dragon's teeth" are particularly effective obstacles in stopping tanks. "Dragon's teeth" type obstacles are built quite close to each other, often reinforced with barbed wire, protected by mines and other protective measures. These concrete obstacles can also be connected by chains, thus preventing them from being pushed out individually.
The "dragon teeth" handed over to the Lithuanian army were manufactured at the Tilsta reinforced concrete plant in Vilnius, a company belonging to the Fegda Group.
As the group of companies reports, the concrete barriers are made of extremely resistant and strong concrete, and therefore can withstand significantly higher loads than are usually specified in the production requirements for such concrete products.
"We live in very turbulent times, when it is especially important to be united and contribute, as best we can, to strengthening the security of our state. Now more than ever, we see clearly that we must first defend ourselves. Only the citizenship, initiative and real work of each of us will help protect our state, if necessary," says Gediminas Gribulis, head of UAB "Fegda grupė".
According to G. Gribulis, the initiative to produce "dragon teeth" for the Lithuanian military and thus express support for it began with the employees of the group of companies. In an internal survey, the group's employees indicated strengthening national defense as a priority area of social responsibility.
"We decided to contribute to ensuring the security of our state by doing what we do best. We have many years of experience in concrete production - we know everything about concrete production. Therefore, the idea of producing concrete obstacles that make it difficult for military equipment to move - "dragon's teeth" - and donating them to the military was born very organically," says G. Gribulis.
Rokas Grinavieckas, head of the reinforced concrete production unit of the company Tilsta, which produced the "Dragon's Teeth", says that the weight of one such concrete barrier is 1,4 tons, the height is 1,2 m, and the side length of the sole is 1,47 m. According to him, if the need arises, production volumes can be quickly increased and up to a hundred "dragon's teeth" can be produced per day.
"We sincerely care about Lithuania and its security - that is exactly what we wanted to show with this project. This is a very clear message to all countries hostile to us: both the people of Lithuania and business will make every effort and defend their country to the end. The more such initiatives there are, the stronger we will be," R. Grinavickas is convinced.
